今日の夕食に焼き魚，例えば，サバの塩焼き1が出てくるとする（図1）．大抵の人は身の部分を食べて，背骨を残す（図2）．背骨も食べる！という猛者はいないため，残った背骨はほぼゴミ箱へ直行する．けれどこの背骨，実は観察すると面白いことがわかるのである．いったい，魚の背骨を見ていたら何が面白いのか？
